With numerous music projects, as, for example with US trumpet master Randy Brecker, Brazilian Bossa Nova icon Leny Andrade and the “Night of Guitars”, featuring Larry Coryell, Paulo Morello enjoys an excellent standing as one of Europe’s most versatile guitarists. Influenced by the legendary jazz guitarists Joe Pass, Wes Montgomery and Pat Martino, Paulo is known for his distinctive melodic lines and expressive style.

After graduating in Jazz Performing, Composition and Arrangment at the Universities of Performing Arts in Germany and New York, Paulo went down to Rio de Janeiro in 2002 with his old fellow Kim Barth where they set up their Bossa Nova Legends project. Together with the production of the CDs “Morello & Barth present Bossa Nova Legends”, he led a three year tour with legendary singers Johnny Alf and Grammy Award winning Leny Andrade hitting the major Jazz festivals and Concert Halls in Europe and South America (Queen Elisabeth Hall, London; Teatro Rival, Rio de Janeiro; Verona Jazzfestival, Italy).

The success of this first project earned Morello further production contracts and tours with Jimmy Smith, Pat Martino, Billy Cobham, Roberta Gambarini, Airto Moreira, Bob Mintzer, Howard Alden, Paul Kuhn, Ivan Lins, Philip Catherine, the Bamberg Symphony Orchestra, BR, NDR, WDR Orchestra and ZDF to name a few. From 2011 on Paulo has been busy touring with “Night Of Jazz Guitars”, a guitar quartet with different line ups: Larry Coryell, Philip Catherine, Ulf Wakenius, Helmut Kagerer and Andreas Dombert. In 2014 he released his critically acclaimed album “Hammond Eggs – Back in the Pan” featuring Randy Brecker and Bob Mintzer followed by extensive international touring.
With the “Larry Coryell / Paulo Morello Trio” Paulo finished a very successful tour through Italy, Austria, Switzerland and Germany in February 2016.

Since 2017 Paulo is co-leading a trio with Philip Catherine and Sven Faller. Touring internationally they have released two albums – one in 2018 and one in 2022.
In 2018 the new Brazilian quartet with master guitarist Lula Galvao released the album „Sambop“ that features Paulos love for the sounds of Brazil.

Since 2020 Paulo is also touring in duo with Swedish guitar virtuoso Ulf Wakenius.

Besides his work in production and performing, Morello holds the positions of Professor of Jazz Guitar and Artistic Director at the Jazz Institut Berlin. Moreover he instructed in numerous international Jazz Workshops such as in Chateau Plagne, Ulan Bator, Burghausen, Bolzano and Erlangen.
